I Will Have Lots of Fun Today
A bold declaration of a beautiful child that shapes how we create joy, love, and possibility into our day.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned about faith didn’t come from a book.
It came from my youngest daughter.
Years ago, on the other side of divorce, prioritizing connection with my children, she made a declaration that we still quote today.
With complete confidence she announced:
“I will have lots of fun today.”
Not:
“I hope I have fun.”
Not:
“If everything goes right, I’ll have fun.”
Simply:
“I will have lots of fun today.”
Then she went about her day.
And she did.
What strikes me now is that she wasn’t making a prediction.
She was creating.
Literally creating the very day she was about to have.
Not forcing.
Not controlling.
Not demanding.
Believing.

Before We Learned To Worry
Children naturally expect good things.
They trust.
They imagine.
They create.
Then somewhere along the way we teach them to become adults.
To be realistic.
Responsible.
Practical.
We slowly replace wonder with caution.
Possibility with probability.
Faith with analysis.
And before long we become remarkably creative.
No longer with joy.
With worry.
Anxiety is creativity pointed toward fear.
Faith is creativity partnered with love.

Greece and the Child We Forgot
A few weeks ago, my wife and I found ourselves walking along the sea in Greece.
The water.
The sunsets.
The food.
The laughter.
The simplicity.
There was something deeply familiar about it.
Not just because we’d been there before.
Because it felt like something we had always known.
For years I postponed experiences like this.
Travel later.
Rest later.
Joy later.
Beauty later.
After the next achievement.
After the next promotion.
After retirement.
After I had earned it.
Yet standing beside the sea, sharing incredible meals, laughing together, dreaming together, it felt like the Father gently whispering:
“This is what I have for you right now.”
Not someday.
Now.
Not after striving.
Through receiving.
The blessing of the Lord truly adds no sorrow to it.
There was no exhaustion attached to it.
No performance.
No proving.
Just goodness.
Just gratitude.
Just joy.
Just childlike play as “adults.”

The Home We Are Already Creating
As Heidi and I walked those beaches, explored the beauty, shared meals, and imagined the future, we could feel something deeper stirring.
Not ambition.
Vision.
The home.
The hospitality.
The place of peace.
The table filled with food and laughter.
The space where leaders, high achievers, creators, and weary hearts can finally exhale.
A place where Heaven feels a little closer.
What struck me wasn’t that we were dreaming about something far away.
It was that we were already living pieces of it.
The vision wasn’t waiting for us in the future.
It was already arriving.
That’s how so many of God’s promises seem to unfold.

Faith Is More Playful Than We Think
Jesus said the Kingdom belongs to the childlike.
The ones willing to trust.
The ones willing to wonder.
The ones willing to enjoy.
The ones willing to believe good things are possible before all the evidence arrives.
My daughter wasn’t trying to manifest a perfect day.
She was partnering with possibility.
She was opening herself to joy.
That feels like true faith.
We think of faith as serious or burdensome.
Sometimes faith looks like laughter.
Sometimes faith looks like a sunset.
Sometimes faith looks like taking the trip.
Sometimes faith looks like eating the meal.
Sometimes faith looks like believing you are worthy of receiving what God wants to give.
Sometimes faith is simply being and believing in who you truly are.

What Are You Creating Today?
Every day we are creating something.
The question is:
What are we creating from?
Fear?
Scarcity?
Pressure?
Or love?
Joy?
Wonder?
Possibility?
As we continue building the life, home, books, retreats, relationships, and dreams God has placed within us, I find myself returning again and again to the wisdom of a little girl.
A truth far simpler than most of the things adults complicate.
So today I choose to agree.
I choose beauty.
I choose joy.
I choose possibility.
I choose to receive.
And perhaps most importantly:
I will have lots of fun today.
And so it is.
Infinite love and blessings,
Nicholas
